Hello, my name is Tess Arvesen and as a dancer of 30 years, I still find it difficult to explain what the artform means to me. My go to answer, everything. Growing up in competitive dance lead me to teaching at an early age which quickly forced me to understand the importance of making the dance experience about the student. Over the years I've been blessed to work with dancers of all ages who have been pivotal in my growth through each phase of my dance career. Now, more than ever, my focus lies in providing a space for dancers to grow in their craft and give back what so many have given me.
The Demi Space embodies everything I find hard to articulate in words. It's a place that holds my passion for hard work, commitment, communication, goals and expectations. I truly believe the doors of creativity and expression open when you invest the necessary time and care into the everyday process. With all of my classes comes the emphasis for dancers to explore what role the art plays in their lives and how they can feed that purpose to it's fullest extent. There's an underestimated beauty in seeing dance journeys of all kinds come together in support of one collective desire---showing up and investing in something that fills the soul with joy.
'If you love something, make time for it. If you want to improve at something, make consistent time for it.' -Yours Truly
